Vulcan City Bike Park - Front View.

The Vulcan City Bike Park in Vassar, Michigan, is a vision of
Ron Parker, who believes that bicyclists, runners, walkers and the
entire community need a place during the wintertime where they can continue to enjoy their pursuits. This way, the park can contribute to the overall fitness and health of the Vassar community.

There will be about two miles of tunnel tubing around and inside
the building.

In addition to the bike, running and walking track, there will be a basketball court, a racquetball court area, a rappel wall and
mountain climbing wall, a dog walking area, and a swimming area. There would also be a coffee shop where people can meet.

Why You Should Join logo

Ron Parker, the person behind this idea, said in the December 7, 2011 edition of the Vassar Pioneer Times, "One problem that all cyclists is when cold weather comes around, we are unable to go riding. My goal is to build this project for the benefit of cyclists, walkers, runners and the community."

Parker also said this will be the first facility of it's kind anywhere, and has the support of the banks and other investors, who believe he has a good idea. However, Parker wants to show them that Vassar and Tuscola County can and will support his idea. "I say Vassar is the perfect place. I want to prove to the investors that there are enough people in Vassar, Tuscola County and the surrounding areas to make this work."

In addition, Parker said, "In this hard time, we need something new. This will make Vassar grow. I believe God put this idea into my heart. This will have an impact directly or indirectly on everyone in Vassar. With people's support, we will create jobs in this area. We will bring tourists to our area and we will improve on overall health. This is up to the people in the area of Vassar and surrounding communities like Millington, Frankenmuth, Caro, Reese, Richville and Mayville."

So why join? Because you can have the opportunity to be part of the first park of its kind anywhere, and if you are living in Vassar Tuscola County and surrounding areas, to be able to say you helped bring about a new idea that will only help your community, in terms of jobs, tourism, overall health, and so much more.
